Freudenberg Medical Introduces Innovative Twisted Lumen Tubing
Kaiserslautern, Germany – January 29, 2020 – Freudenberg Medical, a global developer and manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions, has introduced an innovative twisted lumen tubing called HelixTwist™. A proprietary multi-lumen technology designed to prevent lumen kinks and blockage by providing an equal balance of stress across the inner and outer lumens as the tube bends. HelixTwist™ tubing is optimal for pacemakers, breathing tubes, neurostimulation and other applications that require navigation through tortuous pathways within the human body.
ʺOur HelixTwist™ technology literally clears the path for higher quality and safer medical device applications with an outstanding degree of twisting capabilities,ʺ said Rudi Gall, General Manager of Freudenberg Medical in Kaiserslautern, Germany. ʺIn minimally invasive procedures, a surgeon needs to navigate through different pathways and tubing with a straight lumen might easily kink and hence block a specific lumen as pathways, such as arteries, will twist and wind in sometimes unforeseeable directions.”
Multi-lumen tubing is designed to carry wires and cables or provide a fluid pathway for drug delivery. As such this tubing is an integral part of minimally invasive medical devices and any blockage or kink in the lumens could jeopardize the success and outcome of medical procedures. HelixTwist™ is another example of how Freudenberg Medical’s innovations help customers to achieve safer procedures and reduce time to market at the same time.
